Police find 200 tons of rotten meat ready for sale in SP factory

The Civil Police and Health Surveillance found 200 tons of spoiled meat that would be treated to be sold as beef jerky. The incident occurred this Monday (2) in Carapicuíba, in Greater São Paulo.

Civil police officers from the municipality’s Environmental Crimes Police Station found the food in a company that works with meat processing for resale.

During the inspection, according to the police, a product was found that would be used to kill animals that were among the rotting meat.

The owner of the company was arrested and should be charged with a crime involving consumer relations, which carries a sentence of 2 to 5 years in prison, if convicted.
