President Yoon Seok-yeol Stresses Overwhelming Force as Key to True Peace

President Yoon Seok-yeol, in his role as the chair of Eulji’s National Security Council (NSC), emphasized the importance of overwhelming force in maintaining true peace. He made this statement during the NSC meeting held at the Emergency Management Center of the Yongsan Presidential Office. The purpose of the meeting was to assess the country’s readiness for war situations and the conversion process for all organizations in times of conflict. President Yoon’s remarks were aimed at addressing North Korea’s provocative actions, including their talk of a preemptive nuclear strike and preparation for an offensive war. He vowed to respond with immediate and decisive punishment to any provocation from North Korea.

President Yoon also highlighted the need to strengthen trilateral security cooperation, especially in the context of discussions about North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missiles at the recent Korea-US-Japan summit. Additionally, he issued a directive regarding the practical training of military units during Exercise Eulji, urging the troops to prioritize security measures and on-site confirmation to prevent any accidents.

Furthermore, the Office of the President announced its commitment to developing the capability to conduct a national total war in response to non-traditional threats such as cyber attacks and terrorism. This initiative is part of the joint exercise during Exercise Eulji.

Various government officials were present at the NSC Eulji meeting, including Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, Chief Executive of the National Security Bureau, Cho Tae-yong, and Chief of Staff Kim Dae-ki, as well as presidential aides and ministers from related ministries.
