Today, President Yoon Seok-yeol delivered a speech on the administration of the National Assembly explaining the budget for next year.

In a speech delivered in the absence of the Democratic Party of Korea, President Yoon emphasized that he would save money and spend a lot of government money on welfare for the underprivileged.

Instead of cooperating with the opposition, he used the word “the cooperation of the National Assembly”, and there was no apology for the contaminated language.

President Yoon Seok-yeol entered the main assembly hall of the National Assembly.

Members of the ruling party welcomed the opinion with a standing ovation, but many seats are empty due to the total absence of Democrats.

First, President Yoon said that the national debt has risen to 1,000 trillion won due to the previous government’s negligent fiscal management, and that the new government is on sound fiscal footing.

“The total expenditure for next year is KRW 639 trillion, which is the first time since 2010 that the budget has been reduced compared to the previous year.”

The keywords of the budget were welfare for the disadvantaged and preparation for the future.

He said he would increase the budget to support the weak, such as the low income class and the elderly, saying that the difficulties of the vulnerable could increase in a situation where economic uncertainty has increased due to high inflation and high interest rates.

“Our government is pursuing ‘welfare for the underprivileged’, which provides more support for the common people and the socially disadvantaged while promoting fiscal consolidation.”

In order to pass the budget, the cooperation of the majority party, the Democratic Party, is needed, but there was no word of cooperation with the opposition.

Instead, he made four basic observations to the effect that the National Assembly should cooperate.

“In order to overcome the serious economic and security situation, the opposition and the opposition parties cannot stand apart. We desperately need the cooperation of the National Assembly.”

Lawmakers from the ruling party responded with approval 19 times, but during the tour, the Justice Party’s hand sign apologizing for the profanity debate also showed a strong response.

President Yoon himself made it clear that he had no intention of apologizing for the profane language in his conversation with the Speaker of the National Assembly before the municipal administration’s speech.

President Yoon’s speech took 18 minutes and 28 seconds.

This was the shortest speech in the history of the president’s corrective speech on the main budget measure, and the number of members present was the smallest as 169 Democratic legislators did not attend.
