Accused of Abuse of Power and Unauthorized Disclosure of Official Information

The Daegu Police Agency has forwarded seven esteemed professors from Kyungpook National University’s renowned Department of Music to the prosecution on charges of engaging in actions that obstructed public affairs and leaking confidential information through hierarchical manipulations.

The allegations put forth by the police highlight an egregious case involving six faculty members who were serving as judges during a selection process. They stand accused of intentionally manipulating scores to favor certain candidates while unfairly downgrading others, sometimes awarding them the lowest grades possible.

Furthermore, these accused individuals are also suspected of providing advance knowledge of the specific musical compositions to be used during the evaluation of teaching methodologies—an integral aspect of the recruitment process.

The faculty members facing prosecution include the aforementioned six teachers who played a pivotal role as judges in the music department’s hiring process for the second semester of 2022. Additionally, this group comprises individuals who ultimately secured employment through the open recruitment conducted at that time, accounting for seven out of the total eleven instructors within the esteemed music department.

The Daegu Police Agency sent 7 professors from Kyungpook National University’s Department of Music to the prosecution on charges of obstructing public affairs and leaking official secrets through hierarchical schemes.

According to the police, six teachers who were judges at the time are accused of driving scores to pass some candidates and giving other candidates scores close to the lowest.

He has also been accused of giving advance notice of the music used in the evaluation of teaching methods, which is one of the recruitment processes.

The teachers sent to the prosecution this time are 6 teachers who took part as judges in the recruitment process for music department teachers in the second semester of 2022, and teachers who were finally employed in the open recruitment at the time, and 7 out of 11 teachers in the music department.
