PS5 Pro Announcement Sparks Rush on Separate Disc Players
Recently, Sony officially revealed the PS5 Pro device, in addition to some features, its price and launch date, which falls in November this year. And now, thanks to this announcement, separate disc players for the regular PS5 are starting to run out of stock.
Quoted from staff Wario, the platform is probably due to the players’ belief that Sony may raise the price of the drive after releasing the Pro device, which is not suitable for many players, which is $700 without the drive, and without it, the base, the total price of the device will reach about $850.
At the time of writing, the separate disc player for PlayStation 5 is ranked eighth globally as the best-selling item on the Amazon platform within 24 hours. For Best Buy, you won’t find this item because it’s out of inventory, but it’s still available in small and limited quantities at other stores, like Walmart, Target, and others.
It is noteworthy that the separate disc player was released for the first time in 2023, when the new version of the slim PlayStation 5 device or PS5 Slim, as it is known among gamers, was released. Sony devices are now sold digitally and you can convert them to physical copies by integrating a separate disc player with them, and this applies to the new Pro devices.
CD player sales could be a clear indication that many are ready for the PS5 Pro despite criticism of the high price. This was stated by an analyst who expected the new device to achieve the same success as the PS4 Pro, estimating that its sales would reach 13 million units by the end of this generation’s life.
