PTTEP pilots CCS for the first time in Thailand Meet the goal of reducing Net Zero

PTTEP began to develop CCS at Arthit field in the Gulf of Thailand, starting to be used in 1969. Set targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero along with studying other petroleum areas including renewable energy
Mr. Montree Lawanchaikul Chief Executive Officer of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited or PTTEP revealed that PTTEP has set goals and plans for the Company’s operations. to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 through the EP Net Zero 2050 concept. is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from petroleum production processes. With the development of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects, which is a technology that many countries plan to be a key technology in reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere than other technologies.
The study and development of the CCS project was started at the Arthit Project in the Gulf of Thailand in 2021. This is the first CCS project development initiative in Thailand. A feasibility study has now been completed covering the initial investigation and assessment of the carbon storage capacity of underground rock layers. Design aspects of the capture and containment process The plan is to drill wells for storage, etc. and is currently undergoing a Pre-FEED study. PTTEP expects to start using CCS technology in the Arthit project in 2026.
