Qatar Visitors in 2022: Inflow of visitors to Qatar; Over three lakh visitors in three months – number of visitors to Qatar rises by 700% in first quarter

Doha: The number of visitors to the country has increased significantly. Qatar Tourism (QT) said in the first quarter of this year that the influx of visitors was 700 per cent higher than in previous years.

From January to March this year, Qatar received 3,16,000 visitors. The number of visitors is expected to reach 5,81,000 in 2020 and 6,11,000 in 2021. In 2019, before the Kovid epidemic, the total number of visitors reached 2.1 million.

Berthold Trengle, Qatar Tourism’s chief operating officer, said the number of visitors is expected to rise further in the second quarter of this year. The much-anticipated FIFA 2022 World Cup is expected to attract even more visitors.

The country currently offers visa-free entry to more than 95 countries. In addition, the 96-hour free transit visa will be reactivated soon. It aims to improve the tourism sector ahead of the World Cup and attract more tourists to Doha. “Qatar will launch a number of projects to attract visitors to the country after the World Cup,” Trenkel added.
