Quanlian and PX Pay Service Suspended for Citigroup Cardholders: What You Need to Know

Attention to 2.77 million Citigroup cardholders! Following the merger with DBS Bank (Taiwan) in August, Citigroup has been making adjustments to customer rights and benefits. Recently, customers have been notified that starting from July 7, Quanlian will no longer accept Citicard credit cards, including PX Pay and Quanlian Road for shopping.

A notification letter was sent to Citigroup customers, stating that in response to the sale of Citigroup (Taiwan) Bank’s consumer finance business to DBS Bank, Citi credit cards will be temporarily unavailable in Quanlian from 7/7/2023. Customers are advised to use alternative payment methods. The schedule for the resumption of Citi credit card services will be announced separately.

This news has left many loyal Quanlian fans disheartened, as the Citi card was one of the few that provided cash bonus points for Quanlian transactions. However, it’s important to note that the Easy Card function of Citi co-branded card will remain unaffected.

DBS Bank is currently assisting its 2.77 million cardholders in smoothly transitioning to new cards to avoid any confusion during the merger. Original Citi credit cardholders can continue to use their cards without disruption until they are renewed by DBS Bank. Additionally, DBS has released an updated credit card rights notice, which includes more than 10 reward scheme redemption activities set to start on August 1. The rules of the game will be adjusted gradually.

According to the notice issued by DBS to cardholders, there are 14 items undergoing adjustments. These include credit card credit redemption, “instant usage discount” service, “bill discount” service, mileage redemption, designated store usage discounts, high-speed train fare discounts, DBS Apple Star Mall, movie ticket discounts, free city parking, credit card annual fee discounts, HAPPY GO points, love gifts, convenience store benefits, and value-added travel services.

Among these adjustments, the high-speed rail fare discounts and DBS Apple Star Mall services will remain unchanged until the end of the year. DBS Bank mentioned in the notice that it intends to acquire Citigroup Commercial Bank (Taiwan)’s consumer finance business, which will take effect on the split base date (currently scheduled for August 12, 2023). This means that DBS Bank will take over the services provided to original Citigroup cardholders by August 11. However, it’s important to note that certain aspects, such as the Global Travel Card, will face some reductions. After August 11, the following original Citi frequent flyer programs will no longer be available: Etihad Airways, Blue Sky Frequent Flyer Program, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airline Club, IHG Priority Club/Intercontinental Hotels.
