Rainy Days Ahead: Santiago’s Weather Forecast Takes a Dramatic Turn This Week

Spring has arrived in Santiago, but the expected heat is nowhere to be found. Instead, the city is experiencing unsettled weather due to rain.

The Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC) reports that a cold air mass will keep mornings cool at the start of the new season. This trend is expected to continue throughout the month, with the cold taking over some regions.

Spring Weather in Santiago: Rain and Cooler Temperatures

Meganoticias meteorologist Jaime Leyton predicts that precipitation could continue for today and tomorrow. “Some droplets could still fall temporarily during the day, and tomorrow there is also a probability that some droplets will fall again at the end of the day,” said the expert.

On Monday, September 23, the rain in Santiago and the foothills of the Valparaíso Region and O’Higgins is expected to return during the afternoon. The meteorologist explained that only “occasional droplets” are expected, with a maximum temperature of 16°C and winds of up to 16 km/h heading south-west.

For Tuesday, September 24, Jaime Leyton said “the sky will vary from cloudy to clear, with a minimum of 5°C and a maximum that will rise slightly to 18°C.” The meteorologist added that “tomorrow’s rains are due to a second frontal system which will advance from the south. Today it reaches the south-central area and then moves through the mountain range and could leave those droplets.”
