Raising the Bar: Youth Triumphs in Unlikely Co-operative Victory
Riyad Turns the Tables on Al-Raed
Al-Shabaab continued their winning streak in the Saudi Professional League, earning a valuable win at the expense of their hosts Al-Tawoun in the fourth round of the tournament. Moroccan striker Abdel Razzaq Hamdallah scored the decisive goal, securing three points for his side.
Al-Shabaab won a penalty kick, which Hamdallah took and slotted into the net in the first half. This win raised Al-Shabaab’s score to nine points, continuing their remarkable progress in the ranking. Meanwhile, Al-Taoun’s score stagnated at six points after their second loss this season.
In Buraydah, Riyadh snatched three valuable points from home by defeating Al-Rayed 1-0 in their joint match at the Al-Raed Club Stadium. Al-Rayyed initially took the lead through their player Amir Saeed in the 71st minute of the match. However, Riyadh turned the tables on their hosts, reducing the deficit to 2-1 in the 80th minute after Fayez Suleiman scored. Mohamed Konate added the second goal in the dying moments.
The win took Riyadh to seventh on points, while Al-Raed failed to keep up the winning streak despite a strong last-round victory against Al-Fayha, slipping to four points. Al-Raed played with ten players after their player Omar Gonzalez received a red card early in the match in the 27th minute.
Riyadh’s victory marked a significant comeback, as they overcame the initial setback to secure a crucial win. This result will undoubtedly boost their confidence as they move forward in the tournament.
Al-Shabaab’s win, on the other hand, solidified their position in the league. With their winning streak intact, they will look to build on this momentum and continue their upward trajectory in the rankings.
