Doctor Accused of Rape: Multiple Victims Allege Abuse
JAKARTA (AP) – Allegations against a doctor, identified as Priguna Anugerah, accused of rape have escalated, with the number of alleged victims now totaling three women.A member of the House of Representatives Commission IX, ashabul Kahfi, characterized the case as systemic and deeply concerning.
“We in the House of Representatives Commission IX are very concerned about the latest details that the number of victims in the alleged rape case by doctor Priguna increased to three people,” Kahfi told reporters Friday. “This is not merely a situation, but also indicates that this case might be far more systemic and serious than what we imagined at the beginning.”
Kahfi expressed concern that additional victims may be hesitant to come forward. He further stated that the case highlights potential failures within hospital systems and medical education institutions.
“The increase in the number of victims shows the potential of other victims who so far may not dare to speak, and this must be an alarm for all parties, that we must not underestimate this problem,” he said.”This is not only a matter of individuals, but about the failure of the supervision system and professional ethics in the hospital environment and medical education institutions.”
Commission IX is urging law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure victims receive justice. Kahfi also called on the Ministry of Health and medical education institutions to re-evaluate procedures related to specialist training.
“This is also the time for related institutions for introspection, how could a doctor be able to take such acts against patients and their families more than once?” he questioned.
Charles Honoris,Deputy Chairman of Commission IX,has called for a thorough audit by the Ministry of Health, focusing on recruitment procedures for healthcare workers and complaint handling within health services. He emphasized the importance of preventing similar incidents in the future.
“As a supervisory partner of the Ministry of Health, we urge the Ministry of Health to immediately conduct a comprehensive audit of recruitment, supervision, and complaint mechanism procedures in health care facilities, both in government and private hospitals,” Honoris stated.

Honoris stressed that there shoudl be zero tolerance for the alleged actions of Dr. Priguna and advocated for the maximum possible punishment under the law.
“Crimes committed by Priguna Doctors are very serious crimes and cannot be tolerated,” he said. “We strongly condemn this action and fully support the legal process so that the perpetrators are punished as severely in accordance with applicable regulations.”
The West Java Regional Police confirmed that the alleged victim of Dr. Priguna Anugerah is not only the individual identified as FH (21). Two additional patients from RSHS Bandung have also come forward as alleged victims.
“Two more people have been examined yesterday. True, the two people received the same treatment from the suspect,” said West Java Regional Police Commissioner Surawan at West Java Police headquarters, according to reports.
Authorities indicate the alleged incidents involving the two additional victims occurred on March 10 and March 16.
