(Cairo = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Sang-hoon = It has been predicted that at least 15 billion dollars (about 20 trillion won) will be spent to rebuild houses after the war in the Gaza Strip, which was damaged by the impact of the Israeli military Operation to eliminate Hamas.

According to Reuters on the 17th (local time), Muhammad Mustafa, Chairman of the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF), established to strengthen the Palestinian economy, said at the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos, Switzerland that the Gaza Strip has ruins due to Israel’s war against Hamas, and he predicted that things had changed.

Chairman Mustafa said, “Palestinian leadership after the war will focus on humanitarian relief such as food and water in the short term, but eventually the focus will shift to reconstruction.”

He expressed concern that “if the war continues, more people will die from hunger than from the effects of the war itself.”

The Hamas Health Ministry estimates that more than 24,000 people have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip so far in the war that has lasted more than 100 days.

In addition, most of the 2.3 million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip have fled, and as the supply of goods is limited, a humanitarian crisis continues, including shortages of food, fuel and medicine.
