Red Alert in two districts; 3 more days of heavy rain | Rain Kerala | Breaking News

Central Meteorological Department has issued Red Alert in Idukki and Thrissur districts. Orange alert in Ernakulam district and yellow alert in other districts. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in Kuttanad district today. Fishing will be banned off the coast of Kerala tomorrow as well. The Kerala Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains for the next three days.

Orange alert has been declared in three districts as heavy rains and winds continue. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. There is also a proposal to maintain special vigilance in Idukki. Fishermen have been warned not to go to sea as the sea is rough. In Vizhinjam, wind and rain caused extensive damage. Many boats were wrecked.

Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Traffic was disrupted on Idukki-Munnar Gap Road due to another landslide.

In Pathanamthitta, the three shutters of the Moozhiyar Dam were raised by 20 cm each. Vigilance has been directed in Upper and Lower Kuttanad areas.

The Kerala Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains for the next three days. Hurricane Gulab, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, caused heavy rainfall in the state. Rains and winds continue along the coasts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Karnataka. Red Alert continues in seven districts of Odisha.
