Representative Lee Jae-myeong asks the court to “dismiss the temporary suspension of party representative duties”

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, asked the court to reject the request to temporarily suspend the duties of the party representative submitted by members of the Democratic Rights Party.

Seoul Southern District Law announced on the 26th that on the 25th, Lee’s side submitted a reference document requesting the dismissal of the request for a temporary injunction to suspend the duties of the party representative submitted by pro-rights members of the Democratic Party, including YouTuber Baek Kwang-hyun.

The reference document submitted by Representative Lee this time is data in accordance with the court’s order to submit explanatory materials within three weeks on the date of questioning for the party’s suspension of duties held on the 4th.

Representative Lee said, “There is no basis for the creditor’s claim that the decision of the party committee is invalid, and that there is no basis for suspending duties.” It cannot be seen that there are urgent circumstances, so I hope that the creditor’s request will do so. be dismissed.”

Democratic Party YouTuber Baek Gwang-hyeon, who submitted the request for a temporary injunction, said, “I feel shocked and angry about the trick of submitting a solution in three weeks,” and said, “There is a logical contradiction are some of the answers.”

Previously, on March 23, pro-rights members of the Democratic Party, including Kwang-Hyun Baek, applied for a temporary injunction to the Seoul Southern District Court to stop CEO Lee, who was recently accused by the prosecution, as the party’s representative, and on the 30th of the same month, a legal case with the same content was also presented.

On March 22, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office (Director Eom Hee-joon) charged Lee, who was accused of violating the Serious Penalty Act, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (mischief).

According to Article 80, Paragraph 1 of the Constitution of the Democratic Party, officials who are handed over for trial on corruption-related charges are suspended from their duties. However, the Democratic Party held a party affairs committee and decided not to suspend its duties, considering the prosecution of Lee as political oppression in accordance with Article 80, Paragraph 3 of the party’s constitution. Article 80, Paragraph 3 of the Party Constitution states an exception to the rule, if it is recognized that there is an unjust cause such as political oppression, which can be decided otherwise by a decision of the Party Committee.
