‘Hidden Deep’, a retro 80s science fiction thriller developed by Polish one-man studio Cogwheel Software, was released on Steam Early Access on the 25th.
‘Hidden Deep’ is set in a closed-room research facility where an unknown horror lurks in the background, and users must explore the facility alone or with friends. ‘Hidden Deep’ will be continuously updated with new content and improvements in the early access stage.
Closed beta testing, which started in December 2021, has attracted more than 50,000 players and is now added to more than 200,000 wishlists. It is also highly anticipated through the popular TikTok channel and the discord community of more than 100,000 people.
In the game, players take the role of team leader and lead four researchers into a mysterious facility located one mile under the sea to find out what happened to the crew of a station that appears to have disappeared. In a dark sci-fi story inspired by the classic games of the 80s and 90s, you must give orders to your teammates and find out what happened to them.
To explore the depths and find missing researchers, rescue teams can use a variety of tools. You’ll learn to collaborate with your teammates, master the grappling hook to avoid falling or hitting your head, use your drone to scan inside huge caves, and operate heavy machinery to unlock new frontiers for your lab. But don’t forget to sneak through dangerous traps and alien hideouts.
Players can also play with friends in specific missions in Challenge Mode using local multiplayer mode or the Steam Remote Play feature. Online cooperative play will be added in the early access phase.
