It seems that the “appointment of the Han Dong-Hoon system” is proceeding without any particular hitches. Initially, there were concerns about “Sacheon” and “Yonghaekwan Yangjihaeng”, but no major conflicts arose during the actual nomination process. However, there are still triggers, such as the nomination process not being fully completed and the problem of the withdrawal of legislators cut off from the party.

According to the passport on the 19th, the official committee of the People Power Party completed the screening of candidates for 133 of the 253 districts by the previous day (18th). Of these, 86 were decided through individual candidacies, 3 through strategic appointments and the remaining 44 through primary elections.

A notable feature of this appointment is that there are not many appointments of so-called “Yong Haek-gwan” (key officials of the Office of the President) in regions considered “sunny” within the ruling party.

Currently, only former legal secretary Joo Jin-woo has been recommended to Busan’s Haeundae Gap. Lee Seung-hwan, former administrative officer of the President’s Senior Secretary for Political Affairs (Jungnang-eul, Seoul), and former political secretary Jeon Hee-kyung (Uijeongbu-gap, Gyeonggi-do) were individually recommended for difficult areas in the metropolitan area. Former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong has also been recommended for Gyeyang-eul, Incheon, a tough area, and will face Democratic Party of Korea leader Lee Jae-myeong. Seok Dong-hyeon, former secretary general of the Consultative Council for Democratic and Peaceful Unification, known for working with President Yoon Seok-yeol for 40 years, was axed.

In the incumbent MP’s constituency, the primary structure was developing between “Yong Haek-gwan” and the incumbent MP. Kang Seung-gyu, a former senior civil society secretary, and four-term lawmaker Hong Moon-pyo will hold primaries in Hongseong and Yesan, southern Chungcheong province. Additionally, former Vice Minister of Patriot and Veterans Affairs Yoon Jong-jin (Pohang North, Gyeongsangbuk-do) will face incumbent MP Kim Jeong-jae and former administration official Lee Dong-seok (Chungju, Chungcheongbuk -do). he will face Representative Lee Jong-bae. Former administrator Choi Ji-woo must compete with Representative Eom Tae-young, and former administrator Kim Chan-young (Gumi-gap, Gyeongsangbuk-do) must compete with Representative Koo Ja-geun.

In this way, the official policy of the People Power Party is to follow the system and make appointments in a way that minimizes internal conflict by minimizing the limit for active service. So far, only two active duty members have been excluded: Choi Young-hee and Seo Jeong-sook.

An official from the People Power Party said, “There has been a lot of talk about Yong Haek-gwan’s nomination and Yun Sim’s nomination, and it seems like they are paying a lot of attention to that part.” it’s not quite over yet, but so far no major conflicts are emerging.” At the same time, he said, “It seems that Emergency Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon and the Diplomatic Committee are doing well with the appointments,” and added, “The remaining appointments would not pass smoothly and without any noise to have one chance?” to win the general election?”

However, there are also voices fearing that conflicts could arise during the primary election process and that there could be a wave of nominations if additional disqualified candidates for active duty positions were revealed.

Rep. Seo Jeong-sook, who applied for the Gyeonggi Yongin Party nomination but was disqualified, expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s nomination results. MP Seo held a press conference at the Communications Hall of the National Assembly this day and criticized: “This is indeed a nomination system and a fair nomination, since you are excluding from the source excellent incumbent members of the ‘National Assembly without even holding primaries?’ and “A cartel on naming privileges is at work.” In response to a reporter’s question whether he was willing to run as an independent candidate, he said: “I will observe the future attitude of the party and discuss my position with the leaders of various social organizations who protect me.”

There is also a negative reaction in Gimhae-eul, Gyeongsangnam-do, where MP Cho Hae-jin received a strategic appointment. Preliminary candidates Kim Seong-woo, Kim Jin-il, Park Jin-gwan, Seo Jong-gil, Lee Sang-ryul and Kim Hae-eul announced that they would submit an application to the Central Party containing their opposition to Representative Cho. strategic appointment decision. These candidates said in a joint statement: “If the objection is not accepted and is confirmed without a primary, the potential candidates will merge and run as independents.”
