Winninghoff notes that AI programs are emerging daily. For example, tools like ChatGPT and Gemini act as chatbots. Teachers can use these chatbots to receive feedback on their lessons and adjust their difficulty.
AI can also transform teacher notes. For instance, a teacher can provide a bulleted list to Canva AI, which will create a slideshow. This technology helps teachers manage large amounts of content and generate questions efficiently.
Winninghoff reassures that AI will not replace teachers. “AI will augment or enhance what we do in the classroom,” she says.
NISD is also creating guidelines for student use of AI. Winninghoff explains that these policies will help students know how to use AI appropriately. Teachers can choose to use AI, but they are not required to do so.
