Will Nintendo’s Ring Fit adventure Get a Sequel on Switch 2?
Could a new Ring Fit Adventure be in the works for the Nintendo Switch 2? While Nintendo has guaranteed sequels for flagship franchises like Animal Crossing and Splatoon, the possibility of another fitness-focused adventure game remains uncertain. However, a recently uncovered patent has sparked considerable speculation among fans.
The patent, initially spotted by Nintendo patent Watch, involves a video game controller accessory. The filing identifies Fumiyoshi Suetake, a key designer of the original Ring-Con, as the accessory’s creator. This connection, coupled with Nintendo’s extensions on the ring-Con patent in both the U.S. and Japan, suggests a continued interest in the technology.
Further fueling the speculation, Foxconn, a longtime Nintendo partner, discussed force-sensing technology for gaming peripherals at a recent investor conference. The accompanying graphic bore a striking resemblance to the Ring-Con, hinting at potential developments in that area.

The original Ring Fit Adventure’s success also bolsters the case for a sequel. The game sold over 15.38 million units by 2023, boosted by its late 2019 launch coinciding with pandemic lockdowns. Given Nintendo’s history of releasing exercise games for its home consoles, a Switch 2 successor would align with their established strategy.
Moreover, while the existing Ring-Con is compatible with the current Switch, it requires the original Joy-Cons. A new accessory designed for the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons could provide a more seamless experience.
What’s next
Whether these clues will lead to a new Ring Fit Adventure remains to be seen. Nintendo has not confirmed any plans, but the evidence suggests that the possibility is very real.
