BTS Members RM and V Discharged, Fans Await K-Pop Comeback

Seoul—RM and V, members of the globally recognized K-pop group BTS, completed their mandatory military service Tuesday, greeted by enthusiastic fans anticipating the band’s potential K-pop comeback. The discharge of RM and V brings the group closer to a full reunion, further fueling excitement for new BTS music.
Dozens of fans cheered as the two members, clad in army uniforms, saluted the crowd near the military base. V expressed gratitude to the ARMY, BTS’s global fan club, promising a “really cool performance” soon.The BTS members have been pursuing individual projects since 2022, heightening anticipation for their return as a group.
Jin and J-Hope, two other BTS members, previously completed their service and have engaged in solo performances and variety show appearances. jimin,Jung Kook,and suga are expected to conclude their military duties by June 21.
HYBE, the entertainment group managing BTS, is organizing BTS FESTA this week to commemorate the band’s 12th anniversary. While it remains uncertain if all members will attend, Jin participated in last year’s event.News of the discharge boosted HYBE’s shares by 2.3%, reaching a three-year high.
“To all the ARMYs who have waited for us in the military, I want to say I am truly, truly grateful. Please wait just a little longer and we will return with a really cool performance,” V said.

Fans from around the world traveled to South Korea to celebrate the return of the stars. Philip Darbyshire, a 72-year-old Australian fan, expressed his joy, noting the nearing return of all seven members.
“It is just absolutely joyful… now four out, two again tomorrow and then Suga. Then we have OT7, we have seven kings back with us,” said Darbyshire.
