FT Island performance disrupted due to prostitution controversy

Amid controversy over Choi Min-hwan, the drummer of the group FT Island, entering entertainment establishments before his divorce, a red light was put on the team’s scheduled performance. It is known that Choi Min-hwan will perform backstage rather than on stage during the scheduled performance due to the great controversy.
On the 26th, FT Island will hold its Asia tour ‘2024 FTISLAND LIVE ‘PULSE’ IN ASIA’ in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. However, two days before the concert, Choi Min-hwan’s ex-wife Yul-hee’s revealing video made Choi Min-hwan embroiled in suspicions of entering entertainment establishments and attempting prostitution while married.
As criticism poured in against her after her recent appearance on TV Chosun’s ‘Now I’m Alone’, Yulhee posted a video on YouTube on the 24th and exposed Choi Min-hwan’s atrocities during his marriage. In the video, Yulhee revealed that Choi Minhwan had been to entertainment establishments during their marriage and released the recording. The transcript caused a stir as it contained information about Choi Min-hwan waiting for prostitution and looking for a woman to serve.
As the controversy grew, Choi Min-hwan’s agency, FNC Entertainment, said, “It is difficult for us to know in detail about the personal life related to marital issues, but Choi Min-hwan feels responsible for disappointing the public and viewers.” “We are suspending all media activities, including broadcasting.”
Accordingly, his departure from the KBS2 entertainment show ‘The Return of Superman’, in which he was appearing with his three children, was confirmed, but attention was focused on whether he would perform at the scheduled concert.
FT Island, the organizer of the Kaohsiung concert in Taiwan, said, “After several close discussions, due to member Minhwan Choi’s personal reasons, we have decided to proceed with an off-stage performance.” Choi Minhwan is expected to play the drums at the back rather than on stage.
Currently, FNC Entertainment plans to review the participation of Choi Min-hwan with the organizers in relation to other FT Island performances that were planned in the future.
Choi Min-hwan married Yul-hee, a former member of the group Laboum, in 2018 and had one son and two daughters, but announced their divorce in December last year. Choi Min-hwan has custody of the three children.
