Rohit Sharma’s Incredible Century and Leadership Skills Praised by Sunil Gavaskar

Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s incredible century against Afghanistan not only created a new record but also won praise from legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar and showcased his excellent leadership skills. Gavaskar, who was impressed with Rohit, was particularly appreciative of his ability to lead the team through challenging situations.

Rohit, who returned to set up India’s T20I after a gap of 14 months, did not return in the first two matches. In the third game in Bengaluru, he made a splash when people were calling for him to be dropped from the team. His 121 became the backbone of India’s total of 212/4 in 20 overs along with Rinku Singh’s contribution.

Gavaskar congratulated Rohit for equaling MS Dhoni’s record of 41 T20 matches as captain of the Indian team.

“This format really tests your captaincy skills. If his success rate is higher than that of MS and Virat, it shows his superiority as a captain. I have a reason to stand out in this innings. Generally, in a T20I match, the approach is to go all out from the start. That’s the template. However, Rohit and Rinku showed cricket intelligence on 22-4. Gavaskar told Cricbuzz.

Rohit and Rinku added 100 runs in the last five overs. This showed their ability to adapt and change their game according to the situation. “If we lose one or two wickets there, it’s all out. So Rohit played the best innings in the history of T20 cricket,” he added.
