Samsung Electronics is in danger of not being able to sell smartphones in Russia due to a patent dispute.

According to industry sources on the 22nd, the Moscow Arbitration Court ruled on the 19th (local time) to ban the sale of 61 Samsung Galaxy smartphones in Russia. It is known that the products include the latest smartphones such as the Galaxy J5, which was released in 2017, and the Z Flip and Z Fold.

The ruling is a follow-up to the decision that Samsung Electronics’ Samsung Pay used the mobile payment service technology of Swiss company SQWIN SA without permission.

Earlier, at the end of July, Scwin SA won a lawsuit accusing Samsung Electronics of infringing on a patent of its electronic payment system registered in Russia.

Samsung Electronics filed an appeal in August.

In this regard, Samsung Electronics responded, “We cannot give an official position.”
