Russia: “Four Koreans killed in Ukrainian military service”… Ministry of Foreign Affairs “confirming facts”

Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed on the 17th (local time) that four of the 13 Koreans who participated in the Ukrainian International Volunteer Forces had died. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was investigating the facts.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced on the same day that “13 Korean nationals entered Ukraine, 4 died, 8 left (Ukraine), and one remains.” No further details have been released other than the number of people entering and leaving Ukraine, the number of deaths and those remaining.

In this regard, a foreign ministry official said, “We are aware of what the Russian Ministry of Defense has revealed. We are checking the facts,” he said.

“After the invasion, 6956 foreign mercenaries entered Ukraine, of which 1956 were killed and 1,779 left,” the Ministry of Defense said. The total number of foreign mercenaries remaining in the country is 3,221,” he said.

According to data from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the country with the largest number of mercenaries for the Ukrainian army was neighboring Poland. 1831 Poles entered Ukraine, 378 were killed and 272 returned home, Russia said. Hundreds of people from Romania, Britain, Canada, the United States, and Georgia each participated in the war.
