Russia International Vocal Competition, Baritone Park Se-jin 2nd place

Baritone Sejin Park (pictured) recently won the silver medal (runner-up) and the audience award at the 8th Galina Vishnevskaya International Vocal Competition held in Moscow, Russia.

The Galina Vishnevskaya International Vocal Competition was first held in 2006 to honor the best Russian soprano Galina Vishnevskaya. Promising young singers compete with only their opera repertoire to determine the winner.

In the final stage, Se-jin Park sang ‘A Cruel and Heartbreaking Desire’ from the opera ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ and ‘I Will Die for You’ from the opera ‘Don Carlo’ and took second place. The prize was awarded along with a cash prize of approximately $10,000. Sejin Park, who graduated from Yonsei University’s Department of Vocal Music, won the 2nd prize at the Giuseppina Kobeli International Competition in Italy, the 1st prize at the Pesaro International Competition in Italy, and the 1st prize at the Medici International Competition in the United States.
