Russia⁤ Expels‌ 6 British Diplomats Over Alleged ‍Spy ‌Behavior

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement canceling the qualifications of six British diplomats, citing alleged spy behavior and subversive activities. This move is considered a serious violation of the Vienna Convention.

The Russian ⁤State ⁤Security Bureau (FSB)​ claims to have reliable ⁤evidence that the Office of Eastern European and Central Asian Affairs of the ‍United Kingdom’s Foreign Office is working‍ to create military and‍ political tensions that affect ⁤Russia and lead to a ‌”strategic defeat” in the war against Ukraine.

This decision effectively amounts to the deportation of the six diplomatic ‌personnel from Britain, although​ a specific timeline for their departure has not ⁣been announced. The FSB statement ​only mentions that it will happen “as soon as possible.”

In response, the UK Foreign Office has issued ​a statement ​denying ⁣the​ allegations, calling ⁤them a response to Western efforts to counter “Russian-directed activities” that have taken place ⁤in⁤ several ‌European‌ countries and the UK. The UK ⁢has vowed ⁣to⁤ defend its “national interest.”

This ‍development comes after Russia expelled Captain Adrian‌ Coghill,‌ the United Kingdom’s military‍ attaché,​ in May. ‍The reason given was that Coghill was a “military intelligence officer.”
