On the same day, US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln mentioned ‘Asia-Pacific Four (AP4)’ while stressing cooperation with non-NATO non-members in relation to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. AP4 also includes Korea. Secretary Blincoln said that there is a possibility that AP4 countries will be invited to the NATO summit.
“One of the things we’ve been advancing is that NATO’s focus is on working with partners who are not NATO members,” Blincoln told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on next year’s budget. will,” he said.
AP4 refers to NATO partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region, such as Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. These countries, including South Korea, participated in the NATO-Partners Joint Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Brussels, Belgium on the 7th.
“There is a NATO summit where (future) President Joe Biden will attend,” Blincoln said.
The next NATO summit is scheduled for June 29-30 in Madrid, Spain.
