Russia’s Air Raids on Ukraine’s Odessa District: Retaliation Continues after Crimean Bridge Attack

Russia carries out consecutive air raids after an attack on the Crimean Bridge, prompting Ukraine to strike back in Crimea.

The barn was engulfed in thick, black smoke, as firefighters tirelessly sprayed water in an attempt to extinguish the unforgiving flames.

In southern Ukraine’s port city of Odessa, large-scale Russian airstrikes have besieged the area for two consecutive days. Local officials reported at least 12 civilian casualties, describing the nights as a harrowing ordeal.

Odessa is a crucial port for Ukraine, facilitating the export of grain through the Black Sea Grain Agreement. However, in response to the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, Russia halted the grain deal and launched vigorous reprisals.

Overwhelmed by the severity of the attack, Ukrainian authorities accuse Russia of intentionally targeting facilities associated with the grain agreement. They affirm that the assault on Odessa demonstrates Russia’s broader agenda, as it undermines not only Ukraine’s sovereignty but also the lives of its people. The ports targeted contained around 1 million tons of food intended for African and Asian nations, further exacerbating an already critical humanitarian situation.

Simultaneously, a blaze engulfs the military training ground in Crimea’s Kirovski region, compelling the evacuation of approximately 2,000 residents and the closure of major highways.

Remarkably, the Ukrainian side promptly acknowledges the air strike, a departure from their usual approach. This shift in attitude suggests a heightened possibility of Ukraine intensifying its offensive on the rear of the front line, fueling concerns of continuous counter-retaliation between the two countries.

[자막뉴스] Russia, two days in a row of air raids after an attack on the Crimean Bridge… Ukraine hits Crimea

The barn was covered in black smoke.

Firefighters spray water all the time, but the flames are not easily extinguished.

Odessa, a port city in southern Ukraine, was hit by large-scale Russian airstrikes for two consecutive days.

Local officials said at least 12 civilians were injured and it was a ‘night of hell’.

Odessa was a key port through which Ukrainian grain was exported by sea under the Black Sea Grain Agreement.

Russia, which blamed Ukraine for the Crimean Bridge explosion, announced a suspension of the grain deal and launched massive retaliation.

“Last night, Russian forces carried out mass attacks with high-precision sea and air weapons on military-industrial facilities, fuel infrastructure and ammunition depots near Odessa, as well as Kanatovo airport.”

Ukraine accused Russia of deliberately targeting facilities related to the grain agreement.

“The attack (on Odessa) proves that their target is not only Ukraine and the lives of our people. About 1 million tons of food is stored in the ports attacked today, which should have been delivered to African and Asian eating countries a long time ago.”

On the other hand, a large fire broke out at the military training ground in the Kirovski region of Crimea, evacuating around 2,000 residents and closing major highways.

The Ukrainian side officially acknowledged the fact of the air strike in an unusual way immediately after the incident.

Postponing this change in attitude, there is a high possibility that Ukraine will intensify its attack on the rear of the front line, raising the possibility that the counter-retaliation of the two countries will continue for a while.
