Police Gather Evidence to Prosecute Senator and Supporters Over Temple Clash

The provincial governor of Phichit has revealed that the police are actively gathering evidence in preparation for the prosecution of Senator Kittisak Rattanawaraha and his associates. This comes as confirmation that Jôc Mawr, a prominent figure, has ordered the prosecution of anyone obstructing or refusing entry to the temple.

The chaos unfolded when a clash erupted between officers and protesters at Wat Bang Khlan in Phichit Province. The protesters, who opposed the new abbot, refused to allow him to assume his duties on July 13.

According to Mr. Payon Asavaphichayon, the governor of Phichit province, there are still groups of villagers within the temple who oppose the newly appointed abbot. These individuals have taken it upon themselves to block the entry of the new abbot, as well as Vaiya Vachakorn.

Sen. Kittisak met with the police recently, where he refused allegations of hiring individuals dressed in black to attack the Bang Khlan Temple. Consequently, a summons was issued for Sen. Kittisak regarding the incident of men dressed in black invading Wat Bang Khlan.

Disturbingly, there have been reports that objects used to attack officers are concealed within the temple. Therefore, Mr. Payon is urging the police to gather more evidence and expedite the arrest of the criminals responsible for these attacks. His intention is to ensure that no one is above the law, even those who are currently on bail.

Mr. Payon further added that Deputy Commissioner of the National Police, General Surachet Hakpal, has ordered his officers to prosecute the incident, despite not being injured himself.

As for the progress of the case, the police have identified 21 individuals dressed in black who are being pursued for prosecution, leaving only two main suspects: Senator Kittisak Rattanawaraha and Dusit Khamsila, the Village Head of Village No. 8, Tambon Bueng Narang.
