Los Angeles hosted the Sa Wad Dee Thai SELECT Festival on November 17, 2024, at Serra on Vine. The event ran from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and was organized by Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine in partnership with Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP).
The Thai SELECT symbol, created in 1998, certifies restaurants that maintain traditional cooking methods and flavors. More than 16,000 restaurants worldwide hold this certification, enhancing the global recognition of Thai cuisine and supporting the export of essential ingredients.
Seven certified Thai SELECT restaurants showcased their dishes at the festival. Attendees enjoyed product samples and live cooking demonstrations. Fifty American influencers broadcasted the event on social media, expanding its reach.
Minister of Commerce Pichai Naripthaphan opened the festival and awarded seven new Thai SELECT certificates to U.S. restaurants. This raised the total number of certified establishments to 16,000. He also introduced a new Thai SELECT rating system to help diners find authentic Thai food.
A highlight was a 28-foot replica of Thailand’s royal barge, the Suphannahong. This impressive display celebrated Thai culture and heritage.
Thai SELECT and Farmhouse Kitchen aim to highlight the essence of Thailand in Los Angeles, showcasing that Thai cuisine is a rich cultural experience.
