Peoria, Arizona – The Seattle Mariners have released outfielder Mitch Haniger after he experienced discomfort in his left shoulder during spring training.
Haniger,34,was in his second stint with Seattle. He was slated to earn $15.5 million this season after agreeing to a three-year, $43.5 million contract with San Francisco in December 2022.
The Mariners announced the decision Sunday.

Haniger batted .167 with three hits, including one home run, in 18 at-bats over seven spring training games. He had not appeared in a Cactus League game since March 8.
