Muscat: Salalah has been selected as the best Arab tourist destination of the year. The announcement was made at the second Arab Tourism and Heritage Forum organized by the Arab Tourism Media Center in Salalah on the occasion of Kharif.

Experts in the field of tourism participating in the forum and others have chosen Kharif Salalah as the best tourist destination in the Arab world in 2022, said the head of the Arab Center for Tourism Media and head of the forum. Sultan Al Yahya said.

The authorities also aim to double the number of tourists arriving in the governorate through the continuous development activities of Kharif. He said that the intention is to keep the governorate as tourism throughout the year.

The two-day forum was attended by experts in the field of tourism in the Arab world, more than 100 media workers from the Gulf and Arab countries. At the same time, with the start of Kharif season, many tourists including from GCC countries are coming to Dhofar.

Special flights are also being operated from various Gulf countries. During the festive holidays, Salalah and other places were very crowded. Several areas of Dhofar have received rain since days ago and rivers have formed and nature has turned green. Tourists from home and abroad come to enjoy this pleasure given by nature when other Gulf countries are scorching in summer heat. This time, the authorities have prepared better preparations for the tourists.

Various schemes have been prepared to make nature, adventure tourism and shopping an experience. Cultural and entertainment programs are organized in connection with the festival at different places in the governorate. The major venues are the tourist sites Itteen Square, Ouqad Public Park, Heritage Village of Al Hafa, Salalah Public Garden, Shat, Mugzail, Taqa Public Garden, Wadi Darbat, Salalah Celebration Square and Mirbat Public Garden, which have witnessed huge influx of visitors in the past years.
