“Leave a comment on the photo you like best among the three mentors.”

Samsung SDS, an affiliate of Samsung Electronics, conducted a popularity survey for its ‘mentor’ employees to celebrate Fool’s Day. The workers voted on are not real people, but virtual workers created with generative artificial intelligence (AI). Some see this as a move by Samsung SDS to start its AI business in earnest this year.

On the 1st, Samsung SDS released three workers created with AI through its official Instagram account. They appear in the company’s newsletter, ‘Shoo’s Letter’, as professionals Seo Doo-seok, Shin Da-som, and Seong Dong-su, respectively. Samsung SDS explained that they convey various IT information easily and meaningfully from their own perspectives.

The first revealed professional, Dasom Shin, has the concept of a smart 27-year-old youngest worker, whose personality type index (MBTI) is INTJ. I am responsible for summarizing key content in the newsletter.

Professional Seo Doo-seok, the backbone of Shoos Letter, is ‘the owner of a warm heart and a cool mind.’ MBTI is ENFP. He is 34 years old.

Pro Seong Dong-su is the leader of Shoos Letter. He delivers difficult content with ease and is a fan of ‘old man jokes’. He is 42 years old.

Samsung SDS is known to have established this AI character to show that it is a Subscriber friendly channel. The characters’ names were also named to match the Korean consonant ‘ㅅㄷㅅ’ from the company name ‘SDS’.

Samsung SDS plans to actively use AI services in its business this year. Before this, two types of AI services will be launched in the near future. These include ‘FabriX’, a platform that helps companies more easily adopt productive AI, and ‘Brity Copilot’, an AI assistant that improves work efficiency.

In particular, Brity Co-Pilot is said to be able to apply the Large Language Model (LLM) required by companies, and can be built in the form of a private cloud on an independent server within the company or data centre.

Both types were shown at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 held in Las Vegas, USA, earlier this year.
