Samuel Eto’o removes Benjamin Banlock and Omam Biyick from the management of the Indomitable Lions

The Cameroon Football Federation has confirmed the appointment of Marc Brys as head of the Indomitable Lions, but an unexpected decision was made by Samuel Eto’o Fils.

Indeed, the boss of Fecafoot, Samuel Eto’o, has decided to remove Benjamin Banlock and Omam Biyick from the technical management of the national A team.

François Omam Biyick, appointed number one deputy to Marc Brys by the Minister of Sports, was removed from his duties by the Fecafoot Emergency Committee chaired by Samuel Eto’o on May 8, 2024.

In addition, another name removed from the list of support staff is that of Benjamin Banlock, the General Coordinator of the national selections. A choice, made by Samuel Eto’o in opposition to the Minister of Sports Narcisse Mouelle Kombi. Benjamin Banlock was replaced by Benoît Angbwa. Thierry Ndoh becomes the press team again in place of Germain Noël Essengue.

Since April 1, Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, has faced a standoff with the country’s sports ministry. Refusing to recognize the technical management of the national selection appointed by the government, the former captain of the Indomitable Lions finally took matters into his own hands on May 8, by choosing his own technical staff.

The former star of FC Barcelona and Inter Milla had already written to the Minister of Sports, Monday May 6, to inform him that FIFA had arrested him “about the mechanisms for designating the technical and administrative supervision of the male selection”.
