Sanya’s reception of Hong Kong tourists has grown rapidly, and direct flights between the two places have increased – Hong Kong Commercial Daily

Hong Kong Express Airways’ Sanya-Hong Kong route was launched on the 10th. The route is operated by A320/A321 aircraft and the flights are every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. At this point, the Sanya-Hong Kong route flights have been increased to 11 flights per week.

Since the resumption of Hong Kong Airlines’ regular Sanya-Hong Kong route in July 2023, Sanya has received rapid growth in Hong Kong tourists. Sanya’s high-end tourism products such as yachts and golf and its sunny beaches are very popular among Hong Kong tourists, and Sanya has become one of the important travel destinations for Hong Kong people.

Data provided by the Sanya Municipal Tourism Development Bureau shows that Sanya ranked first in Hainan Province in terms of the number of overseas tourists received in 2023, with the largest number of tourists from Hong Kong. From July 2023 to the first quarter of 2024, Hong Kong Airlines’ Sanya-Hong Kong scheduled route completed a passenger throughput of 61,700. In the first quarter of this year, Sanya’s number of inbound overnight tourists from Hong Kong increased by 113% year-on-year.

HK Express Chief Executive Officer Mo Jieqiong expressed the hope that through the opening of this new route and the specially launched air ticket discounts, more tourists from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will experience the fun of traveling to Sanya, while also promoting cooperation and exchanges between Hong Kong and Hainan.

Ye Jialin, director of the Sanya Municipal Tourism Development Bureau, said that with the deepening of cooperation between Qionghai and Hong Kong, more and more Hong Kong and international tourists are visiting Sanya, which has increased the diversity of Sanya’s tourist sources. Sanya’s natural resources and Hong Kong’s financial service capabilities complement each other, effectively promoting the common development of the two places in the fields of economy, culture, tourism and other fields. Sanya will continue to strengthen cooperation with Hong Kong, enhance the city’s international image, and create an international cultural tourism brand with Sanya characteristics.
