Saudi Arabia is aiming for 85 percent indigenous in the food industry

Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MAWA) has revealed that it aims to localize 85 percent of the country’s food industry by 2030.

The General Supervisor of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Dr. Ali Al-Saban said. The ministry said that many opportunities are being prepared in the food sector for entrepreneurs, investors and small and medium business owners and that they are providing excellent support.

Al Saban’s comments were made while participating in the seminar on ‘The Impact of Food Safety and Innovation on the Food Safety and Innovation of Gulf Cooperation Council Countries on Entrepreneurship’ held as part of the Gulf Entrepreneurs Forum.

Al Sabah said that the Saudi goal is to increase the number of date exports to 2.5 billion Syrians by 2025, increase fish production by 500 percent and increase exports to 3 billion Syrians.

Al-Saban said the ministry is adopting a strategy to develop innovation and entrepreneurship that will ultimately contribute to increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of the environment, water and agriculture sectors in Saudi Arabia.

He said the ministry is working to develop innovative projects and stimulate regional and international strategic partnerships. At the same time, he called on the entrepreneurs to take advantage of the various programs offered by the ministry.
