Weather Forecast: Rain and High Temperatures Expected in Daegu and Gyeongbuk

Residents of Daegu and Gyeongbuk are advised to carry an umbrella on Friday morning due to the influence of a low-pressure trough, which is expected to bring rain to the region.

Rainfall is expected to be around 5mm by morning, with some areas experiencing heavier downpours. The northern Gyeongbuk east coast and the northeastern mountainous region of Gyeongbuk will be affected by the east wind, resulting in occasional rain showers of 5 to 40 mm until tomorrow morning.

Starting this afternoon, showers of 50-60mm are expected in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. Residents are advised to exercise caution, as some areas may experience heavy rain of up to 20mm per hour, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Heat Wave Continues

Despite the rain, the heat wave is expected to continue, with temperatures remaining higher than average. Yesterday, Daegu’s daytime high soared to 35.1 degrees Celsius, causing intense daytime heat.

Although there is a chance of rain today, the humidity will remain high, making it feel even hotter. Heat wave warnings will be issued again in some areas, and higher than average temperatures will continue tomorrow and the day after.

Weather Outlook

The atmosphere will remain unstable for the time being, with frequent reports of rain showers. The entire country will gradually move away from the influence of the low-pressure trough and enter the edge of the high pressure located in northern China.

The northern Gyeongbuk east coast will be affected by a high-pressure area located in the northern East Sea. The sky in our region will be mostly cloudy today, but will become cloudy occasionally starting in the morning.

Regional Weather Forecast

The northern coast of Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo will be mostly cloudy. Fine dust levels are expected to be at a ‘good’ level. The sea waves will be calm, ranging from 0.5 m to a maximum of 1.5 m.

This morning, the temperature in Daegu started off higher than yesterday, at 23 degrees, and in Gimcheon at 24 degrees. During the day, Daegu is expected to reach 32 degrees, and Gimcheon is expected to reach 31 degrees.

The current temperature in Andong is 24 degrees, and in Bonghwa it is 22 degrees. The daytime high is expected to be 29 degrees in Andong and 26 degrees in Bonghwa.

Today, there will be high waves along the east coast of Gyeongbuk. The morning temperature in Pohang is expected to be 24 degrees, and the daytime temperature is expected to be 29 degrees.

Weekend Weather Forecast

There will continue to be rain showers through the weekend. The hot weather is expected to continue until early next week.
