Diabetes prevalence in Senegal has increased to 4.2% in 2024, up from 3.4% in 2015, according to a national survey on non-communicable diseases known as Steps. The findings were announced on Friday,November 9,2024,by Professor Maïmouna Ndour Mbaye,Director of the Marc Sankalé Antidiabetic Center,during a press conference hosted by the Senegalese Association for Support and Assistance to Diabetics (Assad).

The increase highlights a growing public health concern in Senegal and underscores the need for continued investment in prevention, early detection, and management of diabetes.
