Severe weather is possible in Arkansas, specifically within Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, during the overnight hours of April 14, 2026.
Chief Meteorologist Darby Bybee of 40/29 News is tracking the potential for strong to severe storms to move into these regions. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a SLIGHT RISK
for the area, which is designated as level 2 out of 5.
Storm activity may begin as early as 9 p.m. Or 10 p.m. On April 14. However, meteorologists indicate that the odds of severe weather increase as the night progresses, with a higher likelihood of storms developing closer to midnight and after midnight.
Bybee noted that while the primary concern was previously expected to remain to the west, current data suggests higher odds that at least some of the severe weather will enter Northwest Arkansas. The potential for strong to severe storms also extends to the River Valley, though the likelihood may be lower than in Northwest Arkansas.
All modes of severe weather are possible during this period, including the potential for tornadoes.
To ensure public safety, Bybee advised residents to keep cell phones and NOAA weather radios accessible, particularly near their beds, to ensure they are awakened by any tornado warnings issued during the night.
