[New Tang Dynasty News, Beijing time, October 27, 2024]Let’s pay attention to China’s news again. Halloween is coming, and young people in Shanghai are once again taking to the streets to “cosplay”. The police, as if facing a formidable enemy, kept driving them away and arresting them. However, these young people showed a rebellious spirit and continued to “disguise” and parade on the streets, while some shouted “freedom”.

A large number of videos circulated on the Internet showed that during the day on October 26, many young people put on various role-playing costumes and gathered on the street to perform; at night, a large number of young people gathered in Zhongshan Park and Zhongshan Road in Shanghai. , singing and performing together to celebrate Halloween in a warm atmosphere.

On that day, the streets in Shanghai were almost full of police officers and police cars, forcibly driving away or even arresting these young people who were “dressing up”. However, some of these young people shuttled through the streets and engaged in “guerrilla warfare” with the police; some behaved very coolly, waving goodbye to the crowd of onlookers before being caught in the police car; and some argued with the police on the spot, accusing them of ” Violent law enforcement.”

A live video showed a large group of young people watching the performance. A young woman in the crowd appeared to be “dressing up” as the Statue of Liberty and shouted “Freedom”, and the crowd cheered in response. The video sparked heated discussions, with netizens expressing their “support for freedom.” Some netizens lamented that it seems that the authorities’ “maintenance of stability” has failed somewhat.

On the overseas X platform, netizens also left messages to support the young people in Shanghai. Some said: “What crime are they guilty of? Why are they arresting civilians?” Others said: “You are taken away by the police after shouting ‘freedom’. What kind of country is this?” “Everyone shouted together: freedom , democracy, down with the Communist Party!”

Last Halloween, some Shanghai youths dressed up as “Dabai” who takes a nucleic acid test, a stock market “retail investor” holding leeks, and a dancing “Winnie the Pooh”, alluding to the current situation in China and protesting the tyranny of the Chinese Communist Party in a mocking way. Some people even had their bodies covered with white paper to commemorate the “White Paper Revolution” that shouted the slogan “Step down from the Communist Party.” This attracted worldwide attention.

Some analysts pointed out that the alternative protest on Halloween in Shanghai reflects the awakening of Chinese society, and more and more young people have joined the ranks against the CCP.
