Irish Champion Stakes Betting Now Available in Japan
The Japan Racing Association (JRA) has started selling betting tickets for the Irish Champion Stakes (G1, 2000m turf, 14th at Leopardstown). As of noon, the UK’s Economics (3-year-old colt, W. Haggas) was the favourite with odds of 3.3 to 1.
Deep Impact’s son Auguste Rodan (4-year-old colt, A. O’Brien), who is aiming for a consecutive victory, was next at 3.4 to 1, followed by Japan’s Shin Emperor (3-year-old colt, Yahagi) at 3.6 to 1, and Irish Derby winner Los Angeles (3-year-old colt, A. O’Brien) at 4.7 to 1.
Other notable contenders include Luxembourg at 12.0 times, Ghost Writer at 15.3 times, Royal Lime at 61.3 times, and Hans Christian Andersen at 70.2 times.
Betting tickets are available online (for SokuPAT and A-PAT members) and through UMACA, from 7:00 a.m. on the 14th until two minutes before the scheduled start time. There are seven types of tickets available: win, place, quinella, wide, exacta, trifecta, and exacta. Odds are unique to Japan, and the payout rate is the same as for domestic tickets.
