World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, the Italian tennis sensation, has teamed up with renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli for a new song. Sinner, 23, traded his racket for a microphone to record “Polvere e Gloria” (Dust and Glory) with Bocelli.
The song incorporates both Italian and English lyrics. It also features Sinner repeating lines from speeches he has given after both victories and defeats. The music video includes footage of sinner and Bocelli in Bocelli’s Tuscany studio, along with glimpses into thier childhoods.
“I am very happy and honored to be part of this project with Andrea,” Sinner said. He added that bocelli has been “a unique and remarkable voice, a flag for our contry in the rest of the world” for 30 years. Sinner is the first Italian to reach the top of the men’s tennis rankings. “I could never have imagined hearing my voice in one of his songs. It’s extremely moving,” he said.
Bocelli, 66, who has been blind as age 12, has a history of involvement in sports. In may, he recorded a farewell message for Gary Lineker’s final appearance on “Match of the Day,” singing “Con Te Partiro.” He also performed “Nessun Dorma” alongside former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri at the King Power Stadium when leicester celebrated their 2015-16 Premier League title.
