SIX CAMEROONIAN CANDIDATES TO CONQUER WORLD TRIUMPH

They composed on behalf of the regional stage, on March 22 in Yaoundé and Douala. In Yaoundé, Camer.be met three young people determined to meet at the international level.

They only have one last step to brave to climb to the roof of the world, the Huawei ICT Competition. This March 22 in Yaoundé, three candidates competed in performance at the headquarters of Huawei, a global telecommunications supplier. Diligent and focused on their laptops, they are dressed in T-shirts bearing the stamps of the technological multinational.

Among these nuggets, belonging to the Network Track team, we find Marius Trésor AmbaAmba, student of Sup’ptic-It2.Srm; Joselain Lionnel NdzieMbene of Master 2 at the National Polytechnic School of Yaoundé (University of Yaoundé 1); and Emmanuel Bismarck FokamegneFotso, also a student in Master 2 at the National Polytechnic School of Yaoundé. They took two tests: a written test which took place over an hour, from 10 am to 11 am; and a practical test (lab) held over four hours, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Huawei officials inform that at the same time, the same events were taking place in Douala, for the Cloud Track team: which brings to six, the candidates from Cameroon for the Huawei ICT Competition 2022-2023 edition.

They thus represent their country at the regional level of this contest, where countries such as Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Libya, Senegal, Mali, Ethiopia and Cape Verde are also in the running. The teams from these 10 countries compete around two specialties: Network Track and Cloud Track. At the end of this stage, 8 teams from the Network Track and 3 teams from the Cloud Track will participate in the global grand final which will oppose them to those of the whole world in May 2023.

To find themselves at this level of the competition, they were able to cross the meshes of the competition at the national level where they were selected among the 450 Cameroonian students who competed at the preliminary stage. They all come from partner universities and colleges of the Huawei ICT Academy. The competition was launched in October 2022.

“Huawei ICT Competition” is part of the training programs set up by Huawei in Cameroon and in several other countries where the subsidiary is established. It is an ICT talent competition to promote the development of the ICT talent ecosystem and build a bridge between industry and education.

Joselain Lionnel NdzieMbene “if I continue in competition, I will gain more experience”

The written part was more or less difficult. During the practical phase, I tried to show what I am capable of. I intend to represent Cameroon at the level during the overall grand final. I remain confident. I worked tirelessly to brave the regional stage. This competition brings me a plus insofar as it allows me to discover new technologies. When you get into a competition like this, you learn a lot of things. It goes without saying that if I continue in competition, I will gain more experience.

Marius Trésor AmbaAmba, “This competition gives me so much knowledge”

I did take part in the written and practical tests of this year’s Huawei ICTcompetition. After the two reviews, we are optimistic that things will go as we wish. I’ve been working towards passing this stage and finding myself at the overall grand finale. This competition gives me so much knowledge.

Emmanuel Bismarck FokamegneFotso, “We hope to take the last step”

As my compatriots said, we were facing two tests, written and practical of the Huawei ICT Competition 2022-2023. Knowing the stakes, we have worked for months to get the Holy Grail. We are at the regional level. We hope to move on to the final stage. This competition brings me a plus in my training. It is clear that I would not have gained this knowledge if I had not participated in this competition.

In the end, once again as in the last 2 editions, Cameroonian students will have proven themselves in the contest between ICT enthusiasts by winning the 2th price of the regional final in network tracket thereby qualifying for the grand global final which will take place in May 2023.
