‘Six times the dose’… 10 people in Cheongju overdosed on Pfizer vaccine

At a medical institution in Cheongju, the health authorities launched an investigation after it was confirmed that the Pfizer vaccine was over-administered to 10 people. Those 10 people have been confirmed to be in a state of no major abnormalities so far.

According to North Chungcheong Province on the 14th, on the 12th and 13th, a private medical institution in Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju, mistakenly administered the Pfizer vaccine to all 10 residents 5 or 6 times the dose. For Pfizer vaccine, 1 vial (bottle) should be divided into 5 or 6 people, but the medical institution injected all 1 vial to one person.

It was confirmed that the medical institution that confirmed the accident late reported this fact to the quarantine authorities and contacted the inoculated people. The Cheongwon-gu Public Health Center will monitor the 10 patients who have returned home for adverse reactions 7 days after the inoculation, and report the results and follow-up measures to the relevant medical institutions to the Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters (Bangdaebon).

On the same day, Bang Dae-bon said, “There are a total of 15 cases of inoculation with one vial, including 10 cases of Cheongju, and there are no reports of unusual events such as adverse reactions after 7 days of inoculation.”
