SNC 2023: The fair, “shopping center” of the festival open

The cutting of the ribbon by the authorities marked the official opening of the craft and commercial fair.

The craft and commercial fair of the 20th edition of National Culture Week began this Sunday, April 30, 2023. The Minister in charge of Handicrafts, Serge Gnaniodem Poda presided over an opening ceremony which brought together his colleagues from Culture and Housing as well as their guest counterparts from the Republic of Guinea and Mali.

The fair aims to be a framework for partnership and sharing of experience for African craft professionals, but also a space for the promotion of their products for exhibitors and entertainment for festival-goers.

According to Minister Serges Poda, the fair artisanal and commercial aims to promote and consolidate economic integration through intra-community trade.

Flagship activity contributing to the visibility of the biennial of Burkinabe culture, the fair presents this year 636 stands of exhibitors evolving in a diversity of fields: agri-food, crafts, art, pharmacopoeia, maquis-restaurant, IT and technologies, communication, banks and insurance, trade, maquis-resto etc. This year, she is no exception to the rule. Indeed, the fair has about 636 stands. As a reminder, the exhibitors came from Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Ghana, Senegal and Guinea, guest of honor.

The Nimba mask as recognition

Serge Poda therefore invited people to massively visit the stands during this biennale.

Delighted to find himself “once again in Burkina Faso after FESPACO and SIAO”, the Guinean Minister of Culture, Alpha Soumah magnified the close ties that exist between the two countries.

“The sister country, Guinea will always be alongside Burkina Faso to show that Africa has come together and Africa is indivisible. (…). The Burkinabè desire to consume locally is of very strong inspiration and all of Africa wants to do like that”, he argued.
