Southeastern Oklahoma State Baseball Team Achieves Series Victories

The Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm baseball team has recently demonstrated strong performance, securing both a midweek road win and a series victory against Southern Nazarene University (SNU). These achievements have been marked by record-breaking individual performances and collaborative pitching efforts.

On , the Savage Storm traveled to Bethany, Oklahoma, and defeated SNU with a score of 20-13. Chase Keeton tied a school record with six total hits during the game, while Ryan Kirk set a new school record with four doubles. This victory improved Southeastern’s record to 18-28.

Building on that momentum, Southeastern went on to win their series against SNU. Although the team managed only three home runs throughout the weekend, they secured the series win at Mike Metheny Field. The Savage Storm won the first and third games of the three-game set, improving their conference record to 4-2.

The opening game of the series resulted in a 7-2 victory for Southeastern, fueled by strong pitching from Daniel Collins, Cody Pfeffer, and Carson Abbott. The pitching trio allowed only two runs on six hits and recorded six strikeouts. Gage Dollins contributed significantly to the offensive effort, tying a Southeastern school record with two triples, alongside a single for a total of three hits. Ryan Kirk and Alex Showalter each added two hits, while Wesley Mitchell drove in three runs with one hit, and Chase Keeton knocked in a pair.

The second game of the series saw Southeastern outhit 18-11, despite strong offensive performances from Mitchell, Kirk, and Austin Thorp. Mitchell recorded three hits, while Kirk and Thorp each had two. Kirk also drove in four runs in the contest.

The final game of the series proved to be the closest, with Southeastern ultimately prevailing. A six-run sixth inning proved decisive, sparked by a leadoff home run from Keeton. Showalter followed with a single, and Kirk continued his hot streak with a double down the leftfield line, plating two runs. Mitchell added a run-scoring single, and Colton Sagely contributed a two-run single, putting Southeastern ahead for good.

The pitching in the final game was a combined effort from Brock Zimmer, Carson Abbott, Brayden Phelps, Gabe Massey, and Jordan Brown. Sagely and Showalter each tallied two hits and drove in three runs.

Prior to the SNU series, on , Southeastern split a Saturday twinbill versus Southern Arkansas University (SAU). Details of the games were not immediately available, but the split followed the SNU series victory.

Earlier in , Southeastern completed a series sweep of Henderson State, winning both games of a Sunday doubleheader. The team rallied to win the first game 11-7, scoring seven runs, and then held off a late charge from Henderson State to secure a 6-5 victory in the second game.

The Savage Storm then hit the road for their first Great American Conference (GAC) action on Friday at Northwestern, following their success at home against SNU.
