Director Hwang Dong-hyeok of ‘Squid Game’ wittily responded to the dissatisfaction with the ending of NBA’s best star, LeBron James (LA Lakers).

In an interview with The Guardian on the 27th (Korean time), director Hwang was asked about James’s statement that he did not like the ending of ‘Squid Game’. Director Hwang asked, “Have you ever seen the movie Space Jam 2?”

Space Jam 2 (Space Jam: A New Era) was a movie starring James, but it wasn’t very successful.

About $150 million (about 175 billion won) was invested in the production of this film, but the performance at the box office was about $162 million (about 189 billion won), which did not meet expectations. It was even compared to the success of ‘Space Jam’, where ‘Basketball Emperor’ Michael Jordan appeared 25 years ago.

Director Hwang said, “I am grateful that James watched all the squid games,” he said, “but I respect whatever James makes (for the squid game). But it won’t change the ending.”

He replied, “If there is an ending that you want yourself, you can make the second part yourself.”
