Reactions to the latest in a series of undermining of the state of BiH, coming from the RS, are not slowing down. Veto, calls to the High Representative and political responses. All this followed after the RS National Assembly adopted amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem, which restore symbols from the past – by the way, which were previously declared unconstitutional. In addition, by aligning the Law with the Dayton Agreement, the name of the state was removed from the phrase national monuments of BiH. However, the decisive reaction of the state institutions is still absent.

A new move by the RS and again undermining the foundations of the state they themselves belong to. The goal of this type of narrative is clear – the amendments to the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem seek to enforce the influence of Greater Serbia politics in the 1990s.

“I remind you, these are symbols that were annulled by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2006. The coat of arms of Nemanjić and the anthem of God of Justice are symbols under which the most serious war crimes were committed, including criminal enterprise on the joint and genocide against Bosniaks,” said the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Zukan Helez (SDP).

For Bosniak representatives in the RS, this kind of narrative is unacceptable, so they issue a veto that they don’t expect much from.

“And then the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the leadership of the two houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a certain number of representatives can turn to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which can make the final decision. Therefore, at the moment, the Bosniaks Club in the RS People’s Council will certainly veto,” he said Alija Tabakovicchairman of the Bosniak Club in the RS People’s Council.

Vice President of the RS Camil Durakovic he called on the high representative to abolish the mentioned laws, he appealed to the state institutions to finally start acting preventively, and he told the representatives in the entity parliament to deal with the problems of health, education, the budget and the difficult everyday life of ordinary people.

Reactions are coming, as well as divided attitudes, even professions. What in the Federation is seen as undermining the foundations of the state, in the RS is the preservation of tradition.

“Dodik does not hide it and he says very clearly that his aim is not only to undermine the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also to separate completely from Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the other hand, I believe that neither Bosniak nor Croat politicians respond adequately to that challenge. Just a reminder – the coat of arms and flag of the Federation were declared unconstitutional by the same decision in 2006. As far as I know, it still hasn’t changed,” said the political analyst Latal Hapus.

“Under that flag and with that anthem and those characteristics, the Serbian people died in the First World War and the Second World War in the fight against the fascists and through all the wars they fought in history. So – it’s part of identity”, said the political analyst Bojan Šolaja.

This time, it was interesting to vote for changes to the Law on the Implementation of the Decisions of the Commission for the Protection of National Monuments. According to the excerpts of voting available to the media, three representatives of the Movement for the State also voted in favor. One of them, Mirsad Duratovićexplains that it is about harmonizing the Law with the Dayton Peace Agreement, which must be fully respected, and not about undermining the state and its institutions.
