St. Catholic Church Relocates to Orange City, California
LOS ANGELES – In a significant milestone, the Thomas Syro Malabar Forona of St. Catholic Church has successfully moved from Orange County, California, to its new location in Orange City. The momentous occasion was marked by a special blessing and dedication ceremony, officiated by the esteemed Diocese of St. Thomas in Chicago.
The ceremonies commenced promptly at 9 am on Sunday, October 1, with Father Abhiwandya Jacob Angadiyat, the first president of the diocese, playing a key role in the initiation service.

Under the leadership of Christy Achan, members of the parish council and devoted parishioners worked tirelessly to secure a spacious church and associated building complex to accommodate the growing congregation. Former vicars, Rev. Fr. James Nirapel and Rev. Mathews Munjanath, spearheaded the endeavor to acquire a new church, setting the foundation for the successful relocation.
The day’s proceedings included a moving temple service, followed by the consecration and Holy Mass. Attendees then gathered for a delightful love feast and a productive general meeting at 1 pm. The event further featured captivating artistic performances and a heartfelt ceremony honoring former trustees and other notable individuals.
Since its establishment under the spiritual guidance of Father Jacob Kattakal Achan in April 2001, the Catholic Mission of St. Thomas Syro Malabar has been dedicated to serving the community in California. In September 2002, the mission acquired its first modest church in Fullerton City, Orange County. The sacrament was administered by Abhiwandya Jacob Angadia. Recognizing the need for expanded facilities and services, a new church was purchased in the City of Santa Anna in August 2006, subsequently known as Forona Church. The revered Jacob Kattakkal served as the visionary leader, followed by Reverend Dr. Augustine Palakkaparampil, Respect. Emmanuel Madukakuzhi, Respect. James Nirapelle, and Respect. Mathews Munjanat, who all faithfully served as vicars.
