Star Attack” Implodes: Gaming Flop Shut Down and Refunded Just Days After Launch
Concord Game Closure: SIE Announces Refunds and Removal from Platforms
The 5v5 first-person hero shooting game “Concord” developed by Firewalk Studios and published by SIE has been met with a fierce market response and sales after its launch on August 23. However, due to poor reception, SIE has decided to discontinue the game and provide refunds to all players.
According to Steam platform data, the highest number of simultaneous users in the first week was less than 700, and then dropped to less than 100. Overseas analysts estimate that the game has sold only 25,000 copies across both platforms (PS5, PC). This is a significant loss for SIE, considering the development cost of hundreds of millions spent over several years.
In a statement, SIE mentioned: “We understand that the game experience and initial release did not meet our expectations. Therefore, we have decided to remove the game from September 6, 2024, and explore other possibilities, including those that are a better way to reach our players.”
As a result, sales of “Concord” will be stopped immediately, and full refunds will be provided to all players who purchased the game on PS5 or PC. The PS5 platform will automatically refund the original purchase price, while Steam and Epic Games Store will issue refunds in the coming days.
The game will be removed from the shelves, and the server will be closed on September 6, marking the end of the game’s lifespan after just two weeks.
