The domestic console game ‘Stella Blade’ continues to be a box office hit, receiving good reviews from overseas critics.

Shift Up announced on the 25th that “Stella Blade will be officially released as a PlayStation 5 (PS5) version on the 26th.” Stellar Blade is Shift Up’s first console title and is an action-adventure game published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). The main character is Eve, a paratrooper sent down to Earth from a space colony to recapture the Earth occupied by a strange creature called ‘Native’.

Stellar Blade was developed under the leadership of CEO Kim Hyeong-tae, famous for ‘Destiny’s Child’ and ‘Goddess of Victory: Nike’. The demo version of this game was leaked for about 30 minutes on the North American PlayStation Store in early March, and it received favorable reviews from overseas gamers at the time, attracting attention. Some people criticized the character design of ‘Stella Blade’, which emphasized the curves of a woman’s body, saying it did not fit the trend of the times, but the controversy was put to nothing as it received favorable reviews from critics.

The Stellar Blade PS5 version metascore released by global criticism site Metacritic on this day was found to have recorded 82 points. This is based on a total of 103 overseas reviews that were released when the embargo was lifted on this day. Of the overseas media that participated in the review, 84% evaluated Stella Blade positively, and 13% judged it mixed. There was not a single media outlet that viewed it negatively. The first metascore recorded by Neowiz’s self-developed work ‘The Lie of P’ was also 82 points.

Stellar Blade, which has been enjoying great popularity even before its release, ranked first on Amazon’s PS5 game bestseller list with only pre-orders on the 2nd of this month. It also ranked first in PS5 store pre-order sales in many countries, including Korea and Japan. The physical disc version, which offers more benefits than the digital version, sold out early, and transactions at a premium are currently prevalent on second-hand trading sites. The number of simultaneous users of the Stella Blade demo version released on the 29th of last month reached 690,000.

Meanwhile, Stella Blade does not stop here and is expected to continue this momentum. Stellar Blade, which is currently on pre-order, ranked first on the PS5 best-seller chart on Amazon and ranked first on the popularity rankings on the PlayStation Store in over 60 countries, including Korea, Japan, the United States, and Germany.
